The playground rope work, after 8 to 10 years, will become frayed in high-use areas. Often, the entire rope net or feature must be replaced at a cost greater than the original. Open Space Services is in the final stages of developing a rubber coating that will reduce the need to replace the existing net system, instead coating only the areas that have frayed and exposed the inner steel core.
