Playgrounds

Open Space Services offers playground inspections to Schools, Councils and holiday Parks, every inspection will result in a written report aligned to the Australian Standard and to manufactures recommendations. We are an inspection service only and do not carry out maintenance or repairs, this would be a conflict of interest that could be seen as creation of work for profit. We also do not offer recommendations to companies that do repairs or maintenance.

Procedure for installing new playgrounds.
When the school/council arranges the purchase of a playground, it needs to comply with AS 4685, to do this an Independent Playground Assessor goes over the plans and finds anything that is non-compliant (Education Department sets out their requirements and the Australian Standards also has detailed requirements), it is far easier to have the playground compliant before it is installed, altering equipment can be expensive once its installed.
After the playground in installed the Independent Playground Assessor can then inspect the works before its commissioned. This covers the due diligence throughout the process.

Inspection of Playgrounds.
Playgrounds not only consist of the play equipment, ancillary items also need to be reported on when the assessor is on site. Ancillary Items are seats, tables, barriers and fences, hardstands, edging, bins, shade structures, footpaths, drinking fountains etc.
