Seasonal Growth (Sports Turf)

Sports turf requires a different cutting strategy than other areas of mowing; the factors include the type of sport, acceptable heights for that type of sport, compaction of the playing surface, turf type, and available water.
Effective components that can improve the turf also can make a big difference to the turf’s overall health and look, which included vertidraining, aerating, soil conditioners, fertilizers, scarifying, etc; this can be expensive on a regular basis but will make a difference in how the turf is managed.
Cutting Height (Sports Turf)
Mowing heights are carried out on a fortnightly basis with a minimum cut height of 15mm and a maximum in standard height of 25mm, if the height of turf exceeds 25mm before the fortnight cycle becomes due, the mowing time will need to be stagged to keep the cut in the standard.
Mowing will usually only exceed 25mm within a fortnight when the spring flush is at its peak, if a combination of rain and warm days complement each other in alternation, excessive growth over the 25mm will be obtained.
Equipment needed for cutting turf will be either tractor or ride-on mowers, both are of rotary blade configuration, this type of configuration will not require the operator to change the way the area is cut as graining should not occur.
