Seasonal Growth (non irrigated grasslands)

The area this standard covers is Non irrigated Grasslands, non irrigated grasslands are mainly winter growth of a mix of grass, Kikuyu, and annual weeds, these areas can often overlap with lawn areas and will require additional labor to combat the area-wide growth.
The non irrigated grasslands will start to show growth in April/May when the opening rains fall and follow up rains also take effect, growth will continue until the middle of the winter season when growth will slow, growth will then continue slowly until September/October when the spring flush will bring on the greatest amount of growth and the plants will try and set seed for the next season, this will also coincide with the flush of growth of the Lawned areas.
This area type will often need mowing at times when unusual rainfall falls during summer, the rain can germinate grasses and lead to quicker growth due to the combined heat, this is the time when an extra cut may be needed, spraying of areas close to buildings and structures will facilitate follow up.
Caltrop can be a big problem in this standard area, the grass is cut low enough to allow bare patches to be exposed, allowing for fast germination of the seeds, mowing also reduces the competition, this lack of competition enables the weed to take over an area, in some circumstances areas like this were sprayed out, this intern caused a better area for the weed to take hold due to the competition being removed by the poison.
